Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced on Feb. 16 that the province’s immigration department would be changing its name and adding two new immigration programs. Two days later, Alberta announced its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw results for this month.

In the past, Alberta invited 400 Express Entry candidates to apply for nomination. The Express Entry candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 340 in order to be invited to apply for provincial nomination. If they received the nomination, they would get 600 points and be eligible for an Express Entry PNP round of invitations.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program will now be called the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), and the two new streams are called the Rural Renewal Stream and the Rural Entrepreneur Stream.
